Musical Theatre

The Musical Theatre Syllabus Part I is designed to provide basic guidance to teachers on the projection and performance of Acting, Mime and Song in order to bring dance students the added enjoyment of acting, mime and singing. The syllabus gives teachers the opportunity of discovering which of their pupils have a talent for this type of performance, and if necessary give advice on further training. Part I Musical Theatre Levels (Acting, Mime, Song) are aimed at teachers who would like to give a more rounded training to their dance students who may be considering a career in the theatre. Teachers can take advantage of Day courses on Voice production arranged by the PTD with backup DVDs. The PTD is a member of the Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama.
The Musical Theatre Syllabus Part II completes the training with Modern Theatre Dance. There is also chracter work which allows the teacher to develop choreographic skills within the framework of the syllabus.
