Welcome to the PTD Website
The Professional Teachers of Dancing (PTD) is an examining board and teaching society. Established in 1992, it is a not-for-profit society that covers a range of dance subjects both in the UK and abroad. The PTD specialises in the theatre branches of:
- Classical Ballet
- Jazz & Modern Theatre Dance
- Tap
- Musical Theatre
- Hip Hop
- Disco/Freestyle
- Lyrical (new syllabus shortly available)
- Character
Aims:
- To promote the knowledge, performance and enjoyment of dance
- To maintain and improve teaching standards
- To advise members on career development
- To provide qualifications for teachers of dance in the style and technique of the PTD
- To provide a system of training for dancers who wish to embark on a professional career.
Why Choose PTD?
The PTD is a teacher friendly society. We welcome the new teacher as well as those with more experience. A dance specialist for each dance branch is available to answer your syllabus enquiries and give advice on training. We understand the needs of new members to the society and support and encourage them in the examination process. The syllabus work has been designed not only to inspire, but also to help lessen the chance of injury by careful use of warm-up exercise at the commencement of each grade. When developing the syllabus work, expertise and advice was sought not only through the committee of professionally qualified examiners and lecturers, but also from experienced individuals in the profession dedicated to safe dance training.
